Official Description
Throughout the breed's history, the Hackney has been used as a military and carriage horse and more currently as a riding and show horse. The Hackney is well known for its comfortable elevated trot and spirited disposition with the name "Hackney" literally translating to 'an ambling horse for ladies to ride on'.1
